If you are a regular visitor of this blog/site you'll probably remember Cosmic Trip Machine and their first CD-r Lord Space Devil reviewed on Lost-In-Tyme (June 2008) by Mr. Rainy Day Sponge !!! I still remember how excited he was about that album when he first listened to it !!! Since then, Cosmic Trip Machine find their way to discography and their new album The Curse of Lord Space Devil is distributed by Nasoni Records on CD and vinyl !!!

Cosmic Trip Machine claims that "this particular review on Lost-In-Tyme in June 2008 had a snowball effect. You were among the first to believe in Cosmic Trip Machine when no one else did, and you proved it with a Lord Space Devil review on your blog". I believe that their music was (and still is) good enough to reach a large audience. So, it was a matter of time to find more people to believe in their music and it's obvious that they found them under the Nasoni Records label. And of course to all of you who like, listen and maybe? buy their music !!!

Vampyros Roussos

Background and concept :

9 September 2003 : Vampyros Roussos was born. Originally, the project was intended to be a funk-soul-jazz-psychedelic rock imaginary soundtrack, based on an "alcoholic hippies vampires" [sic] movie script written by Majnun.

15 and 16 September 2003 : Will Z. and Majnun recorded demos of Psychedelic Twist, There's No Sympathy for the Devil, It Feels Good, Under the Control of Evil, This Is Jazzy, Isn't It ?, Jimmy Escape (The Dirty Pursuit), Welcome to Roussos and three other tracks Beautiful Red Apple, Groovy Tunes, Progressive Surf (none of which were issued).

25 May and 6 July 2004 : A Vampyros Roussos sequel, based on a teenage opera-rock written by Will Z. was recorded. The newly composed demo tracks were the two Vampyros Roussos themes, Evil Preacher, Revelation Evil, Zorba Goes to Hell and Cerbere.

18 April 2006 : An ultimate Vampyros Roussos montage was released, mixing 2003 and 2004 demos. Will Z. and Majnun and planned to record this project, in the future.

12 December 2008 : The Vampyros Roussos rehearsals began with T-Bone on drums. New demos of Vampyros theme 1 and 2, Psychedelic Twist, It Feels Good, Cerbere and Zorba Goes to Hell were recorded.

The Curse of Lord Space Devil

Storyline :

Between 2009 and 2010, Cosmic Trip Machine had many difficulties with their third album preparation, Son of Lord Space Devil (disease, depression and technical problems). So, the duo decided to cut the album in half, several tracks were abandoned including Amethyst because the two musicians thought this particular song possesses a negative power from the start. In fact, Will Z. composed, in 2000, the first five minutes of Amethyst, inspired by two James Joyce's poetries but didn't have the rights to use original texts, so the lyrics subsequently changed with many versions, all unfinished. For more than ten years, Majnun and Will developed their ideas and extended the song by adding in some improvisation elements and new themes, but every recording attempt failed.

Because of all these events, Son of Lord Space Devil was shelved on March 2010. However, some of the tracks were salvaged and rearranged. Majnun insisted to change the album title as The Curse of Lord Space Devil, which includes electric and acoustic fragments intended for the lost original project plus new material.

Cosmic Trip Machine changed their minds during the realization process, but The Curse of Lord Space Devil is the definitive version of Son of Lord Space Devil, not THE version of course, another one, floating on Corpus Hermeticum, The Book of Am, poetries and mystic texts. The third Cosmic Trip Machine album is showing a new direction, a synthesis of the synthesis, close to the Lord Space Devil psychedelic spirit, that you should enjoy.
