Here's
a link to Circuit Ryder. It's a great lost loner country/psych LP. Very few LP's
like this one out there that's for sure. It's just off a cassette I had with no art or
info. Hopefully it will inspire someone to post a better copy with
information.
I
initially wrote this off as yet another Blessed End but further plays
revealed more interesting aspects. Still sort of goofy in places but
has some truly freaky biker/Cpt Beefheart late night explorations. The
tracks where they break out of their swampy/bluesy mood are the best,
such as "Limousine Ride" and "Chinese", which project visions of a
biker high on PCP driving over a cliff at 100 MPH, laughing and
screaming all the way. Songwriting is essentially non-existent, and the
same riffs and rhythms are used throughout, which creates a sameyness
that will grate if you're not in the mood. The "Billy The Kid" song is
a goofy macho lowpoint not unlike Blessed End, and all over this is an
LP likely to appeal to some while others may be puzzled. A late Doors
influence can be detected. Several sources claim that it was recorded
in 1971, but not released until 1980. [PL~Acid Archives]
